Why are you in admissions at Gonzaga?
Coming from an underrepresented population and being a first generation student, I feel that there are numerous ways in which I can relate to any student coming to Gonzaga University. It’s the first time for everyone in some sort of way! I remember feeling nervous, excited, scared, confused, and a mix of so many other emotions as an incoming freshman. College will be a challenging time for students where the feeling of giving up may arise. However, that is why I am in this job. I want to help ease some of those feelings and let students know that they are not alone and there is so much support all around. It is a normal feeling and I’ll be there to help them. The university life is the most fun you’ll have by making new memories with amazing new people, professors, staff and the Spokane community.
Where is your favorite place on campus?
I love the outdoors and enjoy being on the lake, which is why I enjoy going to GU Outdoors over in the Hemmingson building. They’ll let me rent out a kayak and whatever other outdoor essentials I need! Plus, they have a great team of helpful and friendly staff who provide great recommendations for other outdoor activities even if you’re new to the outdoor life. If you’re ready to make trips with new adventurous people, then this is the place to go to.
What is one piece of advice you have for prospective students?
Scholarship season started a long time ago! Don’t think senior year is the only time to apply. Start TODAY!!!
