CAMPUS PROGRAMMING.
MONTHLY
Out to Lunch with Allies:
Out to Lunch with Allies is a monthly series hosted and presented by the Lincoln LGBTQ+ Resource Center staff. These discussions focus on building community over a mean, learning about an LGBTQ+ topic via a brief presentation, and discussing experiences, feelings, ideas, and opinions about that topic at tables of students, staff, and faculty. The Lincoln Center will provide food or bring your own!
They are held on the 1st Monday of the Month from 12-1pm in Hemmingson 314. Next dates for 2023 are Feb 6, Mar 6 Apr 3 .
FALL
Lavender Mass, October:
Lavender Mass is an annual celebration at Gonzaga University focused on affirming and supporting LGBTQ+ campus community members through faith. This religious gathering provides a space for people who may have felt they had to choose between their LGBTQ+ identity or their faith, as well as a space to heal from trauma, an introduction to Catholic mass, or an invitation to community. While it is a Catholic service, people of all faiths and spiritualties are invited to celebrate the Catholic and Jesuit values of Gonzaga University, while still recognizing the struggle to truly love one another without conditions.
SPRING
Lavender Graduation, April 28th 2023:
Lavender Graduation is an annual graduation ceremony conducted each spring at Gonzaga University to honor LGBTQ+ students and acknowledge their accomplishments and contributions to campus. Lavender Graduation is an informal complement to an institution's formal commencement ceremony, rather than a replacement.
The first Lavender Graduation was created by Dr. Ronni Sanlo, who was motivated to organize the first event because there were no ceremonies to honor LGBTQ+ students. The first Lavender Graduation took place at the University of Michigan in 1995 with three graduates. Today, over 200 colleges and universities offer lavender graduation ceremonies for their students.
