Sunday- Students arrive on campus and are welcomed with opening community-bonding activities and a guest speaker from the university.
Monday- Students travel to various service sites, that range from working with adults with disabilities to doing manual labor on a farm. They also participate in an “Urban Plunge” that includes a guided tour of downtown Spokane and an overnight stay at a local homeless shelter.
Tuesday-Students return from their urban plunge experience, serve at a variety of sites, and participate in a lunch simulation. That evening the group travels out to a camp on a lake, where they spend the night in tents.
Wednesday- Students serve in the morning at Camp Cross and have the opportunity to participate in afternoon activities including swimming, canoeing, hiking, basketball and Frisbee. That evening students will participate in dinners with faculty and staff, either at a restaurant or in a faculty member’s home.
Thursday- Students clean up their hall and then enjoy a barbecue where they’ll learn more about opportunities to get involved with service during their time at Gonzaga. Reality Camp ends by mid-afternoon, and there will be an evening social for all participants in pre-orientation programs. If students checked into their residence hall prior to Reality Camp they can move in to their rooms. Otherwise, students will be responsible for their own accommodation on completion of Reality Camp.
