Backpacking GOOB FAQs:

Gonzaga Outdoors will be providing Transportation on the evening of Saturday, August 17th for flights arriving at 5:00pm or later and Sunday, August 18th in the morning for flights arriving between 6:00am and 11:00am. If you will be arriving outside of those times than you will need to find your own ride to campus. We will be collecting your flight information and asking about whether you require transportation.
 

It is best to arrive in Spokane on Saturday evening the 17th. Gonzaga Outdoors will be providing Transportation on the evening of Saturday, August 17th for flights arriving at 5:00pm or later. We will be meeting at 8am on Sunday Morning, and leaving town around 10:30. We will return around 2pm on Thursday.

 

Yes, students participating in GOOB Backpacking will have the opportunity to check into their residence halls on Saturday, August 17 in the evening. You will have that night to get into your room, set down your belongings, get settled a little, and sleep. If you wish to arrive on Sunday morning, you are able to, but you will not have time to get into your room, though you will receive your key. GOOB participants will be able to stay in their residence halls on Thursday night following our return. Please contact Gonzaga Outdoors, if you need more information regarding accommodations.

You will camping at campsites along the trail on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday nights, and camping on the Montana River Lodge property on Wednesday night.

All three activities are included for you to enjoy! However, if there is a specific activity that you cannot participate in, please let our Office know and we will make accommodations for you.
 
In order to get access to your residence hall room, you will need to check in on Sunday, August 18 between 9:00am and 12:00pm in the Hemmingson Center. You will return to campus around 2:30pm on Thursday, August 22. The next day you will go straight into New Student Orientation!

Students can arrive on Saturday evening if they have to, but are encouraged to arrive on Sunday and instead of Saturday. You are encouraged to book a hotel room if you arrive on Saturday. If booking a hotel is not possible, we will try to make accommodations to the best of our abilities. There is no programming planned for Saturday night and you are responsible for all meals Saturday night.
 
Yes, students participating in GOOB will have the opportunity to check into their residence hall rooms on Sunday, August 18 from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. You will not however have time to get your rooms settled, (you will have at most about an hour), but you will be able to get your residence hall keys and put your items in your room. For students whose travel necessitates that you arrive on Saturday evening, you will not be allowed to move in until Sunday morning. Please contact Gonzaga Outdoors, if you need information regarding accommodations. GOOB participants will be able to stay in their residence halls on Thursday night following our return.
