The Academic Convocation Student Speaker exemplifies academic excellence, intellectual competence, and education for the common good.

Academic Convocation focuses on the hopes and aspirations of First-Year Students as they begin their university journey. The event takes place in St. Aloysius Parish on the last day of New Student Orientation, Monday, August 26, 2019 before classes begin and is a mandatory event for all incoming new Zags. Gonzaga's new Provost and Senior Vice President, Dr. Deena Gonzalez, will act as the Master of Ceremonies in formally presenting the Class of 2023 to the university faculty. A faculty member and one exceptional senior student speaker will share their thoughts on the Gonzaga academic experience. 

* The student speaker must be a Junior student who is graduating in 2020 *

Speaker is chosen: March 8, 2019
