Molly Ayers - Director

Molly has over ten years of experience in higher education and the field of civic engagement. As director, she provides leadership and direction to Gonzaga University’s Center for Community Engagement (CCE) by working with colleagues across campus and partners in the local community to develop academic and co-curricular engagement opportunities that help address community need. Her passion for this work was first ignited when she served as an AmeriCorps VISTA coordinating service-learning projects for Seattle-based Alliance for Education. Molly is a graduate of Gonzaga University with a BA in History and an MA in Philosophy. Emily Banick

Emily Banick - Campus Kitchen Coordinator

Emily is the coordinator for the Campus Kitchen at Gonzaga University. The Campus Kitchens Project utilizes food recovered from on-campus dining facilities to strengthen bodies, empower the minds of student volunteers, and build communities. Hilary Beardslee

Hilary Beardslee - Community Outreach Coordinator, AmeriCorps VISTA

Hilary joined the CCE team as the Community Outreach Coordinator, Americorps VISTA for 2016. She focuses on building capacity for the student engagement programs so that they can better meet growing student interests and community-identified needs in northeast Spokane. She graduated from Eastern Washington University in June 2016 with a BA in Professional Accounting with a double minor in Women & Gender Studies and Sociology. At EWU, Hilary was heavily involved with the Office of Community Engagement where she served as the Senior Leader for the Hunger & Homelessness Outreach Team for two years. Sarah Ghods

Sarah Ghods College Access Corps AmeriCorps

Sarah is an AmeriCorps College Access Corps Coordinator serving with the SMILE and Zag Study Buddies programs at Gonzaga. She graduated with a BA in English Literature from Gonzaga with a minor in History. She has a passion for baking, reading, cheese, and making others feel important. Julie Joyce

Julie Joyce - Elementary School Mentoring Coordinator

Julie joined the CCE staff in July of 2016 as the Elementary School Mentoring Coordinator. She supervises the Campus Kids and Smile programs. Prior to joining CCE, she worked in youth development in the Seattle area. Julie holds a BA in Psychology from the University of Washington, a master’s degree in Social Work from Eastern Washington University and a JD from Gonzaga University. Mary Kelly

Mary Kelly - Community Engaged Learning Program Coordinator

Mary enjoys working with the dynamic and committed staff and students at CCE. She joined the team in August 2010 and is happy to be back on campus working with the students of her alma mater. After Graduating with a BA in Speech Communications, Mary spent 2 ½ years in Niger serving as an Environmental Protection Volunteer with the Peace Corps. Kara King

Kara King - College Access Corps AmeriCorps

Kara King is an AmeriCorps College Access Corps Coordinator serving with Garry Middle School, specifically within the Connections, GAME, and Eye-to-Eye programs. She graduated from Gonzaga with a BA in Psychology. She loves the Cubs, Anthony Rizzo, and working with youth. She abhors exclusivity, and has a knack for coming up with funny phrases. Hannah Klaassen

Hannah Klaassen - Coordinator of Student and Community Engagement

Hannah began her role as Coordinator of Student and Community Engagement in August of 2015. Prior to joining the CCE team, she worked for Lutheran Volunteer Corps in the Chicago office. She has a master’s degree in divinity from Chicago Theological Seminary and a master’s degree in social work from the University of Chicago’s School of Social Service Administration. Hannah has experience in chaplaincy, workforce development, refugee resettlement, and communications. Julia Larsen

Julia Larsen - Program Assistant II

Julia joined CCE in August 2014 in the role of Program Assistant II for the mentoring programs. Julia is British and has been a U.S resident since 2006. She studied at Hitchin Girls School in Hertfordshire, England where she graduated at the Advanced Level in English and Sociology. Following a 2 year period of traveling and working in Europe, Julia joined the Corporate Sector in the UK where she worked for many years. She is very much looking forward to adapting and using her skills and experience in a non-profit capacity supporting the mission of our students and the CCE team. Andrew is a second year AmeriCorps College Corps Coordinator serving with Shaw Middle school, particularly with Connections, GAME, and Eye-to-Eye programs. He also is heading the newest Youth program CCE offers, SPARKS, a high school program out of Rogers High School. Anthony Medina

Anthony Medina - Assistant Director

Anthony works with the Community Engaged Learning programs and oversees the CCE’s marketing efforts. He joined the CCE Team in July of 2017. He received his BA in Communication from Loyola University Maryland in Baltimore and his MSEd in Higher Education from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. After completing his undergraduate studies, Anthony served as a Jesuit Volunteer as the Community Engagement Coordinator at a high school in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Phoebe Oosterhuis

Phoebe Oosterhuis - Business Manager

Phoebe joined the CCE as the Program Assistant in July of 2012 and was promoted to Business Manager in June 2016. Originally from Minneapolis, she moved to Spokane in 2010 when her husband accepted a professorship at Gonzaga. Although she misses her family and friends (but not the mosquitos or humidity) in the Midwest, she has loved the opportunity to join the theater community in Spokane. Darcy Phillips

Darcy Phillips - Service Immersion Coordinator

Darcy joined the CCE team in August 2015 as the Service Immersion Coordinator. Prior to CCE, she served as the In-Country Director for Rostro de Cristo, a post graduate volunteer program, in Guayaquil, Ecuador. Brandi Praytor-Marsters

Brandi Praytor-Marsters - Middle School Mentoring Coordinator

Brandi joined the CCE team in August of 2014 as the Middle School Mentoring Coordinator. She supervises four mentoring programs: Connections, GAME, Eye to Eye, and Zag Study Buddies. She has been in higher education for the past three years and enjoys assisting students in reaching their dreams. Brandi completed three terms of service for the Federal Way Public Schools AmeriCorps team. She is working toward a master’s degree in Student Affairs in Higher Education through Colorado State University, and received a BS in Sociology from the University of Idaho. Brandi enjoys spending summer days at the many beaches of Lake Coeur d’Alene. Allison Ruster

Allison Ruster - Campus Kitchens Community Coordinator

Allison began her role with CCE as the AmeriCorps Campus Kitchens Community Coordinator in September 2017. She graduated from Washington State University in May 2017 with a Bachelor’s degree in Foreign Languages and Cultures (French and Political Science) and is completing her pre-graduate school gap year by giving back to her hometown of Spokane! Outside of work, she is a competitive distance runner and a coffee aficionado. Bailley Wooton

Bailley Wootton - Associate Director

Bailley manages the mentoring programs at CCE. She received her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Pepperdine University and her master's degree in Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis.
