Josiah Lara

Growing up in Valleyford, Washington in a family of fifteen was an experience unlike most: I could identify who was at the community church based off of what car was in the parking lot, 
and if I ever wanted to play a game of kickball, I had several siblings at the ready. Living in a community where everyone was considered family, I had constant support and felt like I could conquer anything.

Community is my inspiration for what I hope to achieve throughout my law school and legal career. The practice of law is a powerful and effective tool that is often used to serve those least in need, to make rich people richer, and to protect the interests of those in power. My goal in becoming an attorney is to use the power of law to protect and defend marginalized people who suffer the consequences of unjust and violent institutions.
