The Judge Bert Horrigan Memorial Scholarship was established in memory of Judge Horrigan in 1974 by members of the Horrigan family. Judge Horrigan was a distinguished judicial and civic leader in the Eastern Washington area. During the 1940s, he served as a Superior Court Judge for Benton, Adams and Franklin Counties; he also served in the Washington State Legislature. In 1953 he incorporated the Horrigan Foundation, which supports education, religious and philanthropic organizations. In 1963 Judge Horrigan received the DeSmet Medal, one of Gonzaga’s highest honors. This scholarship is intended for needy and worthy law students.
