B.Ed. in Kinesiology and Physical Education with Teacher Certification

The Bachelor of Education in Kinesiology and Physical Education with Teacher Certification program prepares you to teach elementary or secondary health and fitness at schools in Washington and many other states throughout the country. The program combines a strong liberal arts core with courses in kinesiology and physical education and teacher education. You will gain the essential skills for positions as a certified K-12 teacher and oftentimes school sports coach. The program also provides strong preparation for graduate studies in physical education (pedagogy or administration).

B.Ed. in Kinesiology and Physical Education: Fitness Specialist

If you are not interested in becoming a certified teacher and want a career in the fitness industry, the Kinesiology and Physical Education program with the Fitness Specialist Concentration is a good option. This path prepares you for a career in a fitness environment with people of all ages as a personal trainer, strength and conditioning coach, fitness club programmer, or as a group activity instructor. The program includes courses in kinesiology and physical education with an additional 16-credits of courses for the fitness concentration. The degree prepares you for nationally recognized certification tests and health and fitness careers in communities, with athletic teams, afterschool fitness programs, fitness centers and other settings.

B.Ed. in Kinesiology and Physical Education: Non-Certification

The non-certification B.Ed. in Kinesiology and Physical Education program does not provide teacher certification or a fitness specialist concentration. This may be a good option if you plan to coach or work within recreational settings.

Physical Education Minor and Teaching Endorsement

The endorsement program provides teaching certification if you want to add a health and fitness teaching endorsement to your major in another discipline (e.g. English, Science, Music). A minor in physical education does not provide certification for teaching.
