About This Event
Join Zag alumni and friends for a fishing derby and evening gathering on Saturday, June 27, in Homer, Alaska. Hosted by the Korver Family.
Schedule of Events
- 5 a.m.–6 p.m. Fish or enjoying the day in Homer with friends
- 3 p.m. Not fishing? Feel free to join the group at Korver’s condo.

- 7–10 p.m. Dinner and shared fish stories at the Korver condo
- 10 p.m.–Midnight S’mores and summer solstice gathering on the beach
Additional Information
Hosted dinner: The meal costs $10 per person (age 12 and under: free).
The meal will include hamburgers and hotdogs, along with sides. Bring your own beverage and camping chair.
Participants are responsible for the following:
- Booking a charter or bringing their own boat
Charter seaters cost around $300 and $400 per person and usually include everything but food and personal gear - Accommodations in Homer
There are usually many Homer accommodations listed on VRBO. Please book both your boat and lodging as soon as possible. Visit the Homer tourism website for more information.
Recommended attire:
(Anything Zag is awesome)
- Tank top/tee shirt
- Thermal bottoms/top
- Hoodie/sweatshirt
- Jeans/hiking pants that can be adjusted for cold or hot days
- Skull and ball caps
- Sunglasses Fishing fingerless gloves if your hands get cold Fishing shoes (shoes that can get bloody and wet)
Also, participants may want to consider bringing hand and foot warmers as the weather can shift and temperatures can drop quickly. Furthermore, waterproof camera and phone bags that hangs from your neck are recommended.
Cash for the Salty Dawg and tipping for the charter crew: At some point over the weekend, there is usually a crew that rolls into the Salty Dawg and it’s usually post-party and cash-only. There is an onsite ATM; however, the fees are usually high and there is a line until they run out of cash.
