Lisa Sowle Cahill, Ph.D., will address the intersection of power, sex, and violence in the Catholic Church's sexual abuse crisis and offer proposals for authentic church reform and renewal.
The lecture will be held on Friday, October 25 at 4:30 p.m. in the Hemmingson Ballroom and is sponsored by the Office of Mission and Ministry, the Catholic Studies Program, the Della Strada Jesuit Community, the Religious Studies Department, and the Women's and Gender Studies Department.

Lisa Sowle Cahill, Ph.D., is the J. Donald Monan Professor in the Boston College Theology Department. A seminal figure in the fields of theological ethics, moral theology, Catholic social thought, feminist theology, and feminist ethics, she is the author or editor of seventeen books, including Sex, Gender, and Christian Ethics (1996), Sexuality and U.S. Catholic Church: Crisis and Renewal (2006), Global Justice, Christology, and Christian Ethics (2013), and Blessed are the Peacemakers: Pacifism, Just War, and Peacebuilding (2019). Professor Cahill has served as the president of the Society of Christian Ethics (1997-1998) and the president of the Catholic Theological Society of America (1992-1993). In 2008, she received the Catholic Theological Society of America’s highest honor, the John Courtney Murray Award for Excellence in Theology.
