General Information & LimitationsDigitized copies of non-library documents are subject to University copyright policy.
Foley Library will make every effort to place lawful copies on electronic reserve. Interlibrary loan and document delivery services are used to obtain material for individual research purposes only. The library cannot use these services to acquire books or articles for uploading to electronic reserves.
When digitized copies are placed on electronic reserve, the library will purchase or license a copy for copyright compliance when possible.
Foley Library will make use of Fair Use provisions (codified in Section 107 of the Copyright Act) in placing materials on electronic reserves.
In cases in which an item’s use exceeds fair use, Foley Library will assist faculty members in obtaining copyright permission. This includes the Library seeking and paying for permission from the Copyright Clearance Center (CCC) and directly from rights holders.
