About the Sociology & Criminology Department

Our Department offers Bachelors of Arts degrees and minors in Sociology and Criminology. Faculty members are scholars interested in a wide range of sociological issues including race, education, health, sport, gender, law, religion, politics, and social movements. We encourage undergraduate research, offering opportunities to conduct original research or assist with professors’ projects.

We offer real-life experiences through internships and community-engaged classes. We provide an excellent foundation for students interested in pursuing various careers, including teaching, law enforcement, counseling, activism, and social work. Our graduates regularly engage in post-graduate service with humanitarian and nonprofit organizations such as Jesuit Volunteer Corps, AmeriCorps, and Peace Corps, prior to entering the workforce or attending graduate school.
