Gonzaga Day Service Projects

Service to others is the backbone to Gonzaga's mission. This year, we are excited to team up with local organizations for a focused day of service with fellow Zags!

Boston - Paulist Center Supper Club

Help prepare and serve a meal to approximately 200 people at Paulist Center Supper Club.

Calgary, Canada - Pastoral Diocesan

We will have GU swag for sale at the Gonzaga Day Game watch, with profits going to the St. Mary's Feed the Hungry Program at the Pastoral Diocesan. 

 

Denver - VA Hospital

The Denver Chapter is excited to collect and assemble care packages for patients at the VA hospital. We are asking folks to bring a quantity of 10-15 items from the list outlined below. Each person who brings supplies to contribute will get a free beer courtesy of the Pub on Pearl! The stuffing party starts at 6 with a game watch to follow with special Zag food and drink specials.

Materials Needed: Personal care items - toothbrush, toothpaste, mouth wash, deodorant, comps, chapstick, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion, shaving cream. Entertainment and Activities - crossword puzzles, word finds, sudoku puzzles, pencils/pens, magazines and books aimed towards male readers. **Items the VA cannot accept - food, beverage, gum, razors and nail files.

Eugene, OR - Catholic Community Services of Lane County

The Eugene chapter will helping with maintenance and upkeep at the Catholic Community Services of Lane County.

Special Instructions: Please make sure to wear closed-toed shoes, wear appropriate clothing for indoor/outdoor work in February, and bring a bottle of water.

Helena, MT -Helena Food Share

The Helena chapter will be collecting donations for Helena Food Share. Please bring canned fruits and vegetables, canned soups, peanut butter, canned meals and flour/sugar.

Los Angeles - Los Angeles Regional Food Bank

The Los Angeles chapter will be sorting, inspecting and repackaging donated food items from local food drives at the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank.

Minnesota - The Food Group

The Minnesota chapter will be collecting food and cash donations for The Food Group, a local non-profit.

Special Instructions:  Suggested donation items include: canned meats, one-skillet Helper meals, shelf-stable dairy products, chunky soups & stews, baby food and formula, high fiber cereals, tomato sauce and pasta, peanut butter & jam, pancake and waffle mix, fruit cups, fruit juice, kid-friendly snacks. Low-sodium and Gluten Free items are also in high demand.

New York - Kids in the Game (KING)

Volunteer at a Saturday basketball clinic for immigrant youth in Sunset Park, Brooklyn.

North Carolina - Hemby Children's Hospital 

We will be collecting toy donations for Hemby Children's Hospital in Charlotte, North Carolina. They are in need of toys for children of all ages from newborns to 18 years of age.

Special Instructions: These toys are used for special occasions for the children in the hospital. They ask that the toys be new, non-violent and non-religious.

North Idaho - Student Supply Drive Kootenai County

We will be collecting toy donations for K-12 students in Kootenai County. In the CDA school district 450 students have been identified this year as living in an insecure housing situation. Local educators supply necessities to these children at school when they have trouble attaining them from home. Please drop off any of the items listed below or similar items to our office between February 7th and 9th.

Phoenix - St. Mary's Food Bank - Del Webb Warehouse 

Join us to pack emergency food boxes with non-perishable items, sort food or repack bulk produce. Positions include high impact roles such as palletizing the completed boxes, as well as, less strenuous jobs that can be done seated.
