Nicole Willms currently teaches for the Sociology Department and Women's and Gender Studies Program. She enjoys sharing her enthusiasm for social science research with students, especially through her co-leadership of the social science undergraduate research program. Dr. Willms' research focuses on the representation, performance and negotiation of gender, race, and class in American sports. She has written a book on the gender dynamic in Japanese American community basketball. She is also embarking on a new project examining representations of female athletes in young adult fiction.
