I was born in Bien Hoa, Vietnam, and grew up in a traditional Catholic family. I felt the call to the priesthood early in my life. In 1990, my family moved to the United States and settled in Nashville, Tennessee. I joined the Jesuits in 1995 and was ordained to the priesthood in 2007. In my early years of Jesuit training, I was interested in philosophy. But later the program directed my interest to theology, in particular the early Christian theology. I returned to Gonzaga University in 2015 and have been teaching in the department of Religious Studies since that time.
