Jamella Gow is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology and Criminology. Her research explores how Afro-Caribbean migrants and their descendants navigate being both racially Black and immigrant in the U.S. and examines the role that race and legal status play on their identities and community-formation. She teaches courses in race and ethnicity, immigration, Black studies, globalization, and culture.
