SUBJ: NAACP “Demand Justice and Promote Peace” March – Sunday, April 3
DATE: April 1, 2011
I was pleased to learn that the Spokane Chapter of the NAACP is sponsoring an event in Spokane on Sunday, April 3 to commemorate the 43rd anniversary of the assassination of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. The “Demand Justice and Promote Peace” march and rally starts at the Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena beginning at 3 p.m., and proceeds to Riverfront Park.
I encourage all who can to participate in this important event. Sunday’s rally is a poignant opportunity to demonstrate against hate and racism in this region and to convey the commitment of both our Gonzaga and Spokane communities to equality, justice and peace.
Benjamin Todd Jealous, the NAACP’s national president will speak.
I hope everyone who chooses to participate will wear Gonzaga colors and proudly represent our University at this event.
