Justice in January

Registration is currently closed. The program is full for the 2017-2018 school year.

Justice in January is a winter break immersion trip where students explore the realities of immigration and border issues along the U.S.-Mexico border. During the fall semester students will take a one credit course that provides a brief sociologically-informed political, economic, and cultural overview of the U.S.-Mexico border. Students will utilize this common baseline of knowledge to inform their Justice in January experience. During the immersion experience students will enter into dialogue with individuals impacted by immigration, community leaders, non-profit and government agencies to better understand the complexities of immigration. Students will have the opportunity to cross the border to learn from and serve with organizations that provide assistance to and accompany migrants.

Students will register for SOSJ 280: Justice in January after signing up for the immersion experience through CCE. The course will meet on Fridays from 12:10-1:00pm for the last 8 weeks of Fall semester.

The immersion experience takes place during Christmas break from January 7 - 14, 2018.
