What is Tomorrow Made Possible?
Gonzaga doesn’t function on student tuition alone. Tomorrow is made possible because of donor support. We celebrate Tomorrow Made Possible as the last day the University runs on revenue generated by tuition and starts running solely on donor funds.
Not only is Tomorrow Made Possible a day to thank our donors, it is a campus-wide event intended to engage and educate students about the importance of giving. Most importantly, Tomorrow Made Possible is an opportunity for Gonzaga students to thank donors for the transformational experience their generosity helps to provide.
Every year, the University supplements student tuition with thousands of dollars of additional support, with the goal of making education as affordable as possible. Each department on campus is reliant on philanthropic gifts in order to provide the best Jesuit education and student experience possible. This could not be achieved without the financial support of alumni, parents, friends, faculty and staff to help offset the total cost for a student to attend Gonzaga.
What is #ZagDonorLove?
#ZagDonorLove is our way of displaying our appreciation for all of the gifts that Gonzaga receives. Although we can’t see all of them, we know that gifts from our donors are what keeps the University alive.
We’re encouraging students to show their appreciation by sharing a picture of something they are thankful for and tagging #ZagDonorLove on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. This will allow our donors to see from a student’s perspective the impact of their donation.
There is also an Instagram contest for those who use #ZagDonorLove.
What inspires donors to give?
Our donors Believe in Zags and they aren’t afraid to share their stories. The entire Gonzaga community is inspired by what possibilities the future may hold for GU students. Whether the gift is $10 or $10 million, each gift is a confirmation that they believe in the capabilities Gonzaga students hold.
How do gifts keep the total cost of education lower?
Tuition doesn’t cover the entire cost of running our University. Between operating expenses and paying our wonderful faculty, there isn’t a lot of funds leftover for student aid. Donors help close the gap. It is with donor support that we are able to provide scholarships for the 95% of students who need them. Without donor support, not only would these students be unable to attend Gonzaga, it would cost everyone else more money to do so. Furthermore, tuition would need to be raised in order to cover all that goes into the Gonzaga experience.
We are thankful our donors Believe in Zags and honor Gonzaga traditions by monetarily giving back.
