Description: The Gig: Our fun, highly energetic family is looking for a student to care for our happy 6-month old baby and help get our smart, busy, funny 3-year-old breakfast, dressed, hair done, and ready for montessori school by 8:45 am. Oh and convince her to use the potty, even though she'll tell you she used it last night... (that's the hardest part). The job also requires cleaning up the breakfast dishes, loading/unloading the dishwasher, and picking up toys. My husband often works from home for part of the morning before heading into his office. I work from my home office all day, and am currently nursing the baby and check-in on the kids throughout the day in between meetings and conference calls. Our regular nanny picks the 3 year old up from school around 12 and comes to the house for the afternoon. Our regular morning GU student is heading back to her summer job, creating this opening for you! Hours: 7 am - 12:30 pm M-Thurs (I am flexible on the days to work around classes/work schedules, although I would prefer to have someone that could cover most of those mornings). Starting: May 1 - end of June (the position could also start after finals week). I also have some dates in July that I need to schedule child care.
Qualifications: You must be: Reliable, on-time, flexible, organized, enjoy interacting with adults and children. Display initiative (if something looks like it needs to be done around the house, do it). Be able to survive a house full of extroverts. And clearly if it's not obvious by now, be able to multi-task, take direction and be great with logistics. Infant care experience is preferred. Experience with children under the age of 5 and sleep deprived parents is a plus. You must have your own transportation and good driving history.

Description: I need one deckhand on a salmon fishing tender in Alaska. The hours are long but the work is pretty easy. We are on the open ocean at times so applicants need strong stomachs. On my boat you will learn how to navigate a vessel, you will learn how to identify many different species of fish, you will learn some basic engineering and maintenance, you will learn some great seafood recipes, etc. We work 7 days a week for approximately 11 weeks starting in mid June and some days are long, but we get some down time and usually 1-2 nights a week in town. We live on the boat so housing is free and all of our groceries are paid for as well. Also, it is possible to put aside 50-100lbs of salmon, steelhead, halibut, crab and shrimp to take home at the end of the season. I worked on a similar vessel during summers while I attended GU. It is a job and we work hard but we also have a lot of fun.
