Description: Earn your winter ski pass! A fun job with the Schweitzer Summer Adventure Crew awaits! Work on a team of about 8 crew running our village activities in a scenic setting. We operate a mobile climbing wall, monkey jumper, and zip line. A day in the life of working on this crew would begin around 10am to set up. We inspect every harness, strap, component, etc. and set out all our equipment before starting our day. Testing the product is not only encouraged, but sometimes mandatory. At 11 we open for business and we assist family members of all ages. Throughout the day we harness guests, give them some safety rules, and facilitate them in enjoying our monkey jump, climbing wall, or zip line. We are personable, fun, engaging and hardworking! We love people! Each day, crew members are assigned to one of the three activities and are generally at one activity for the entire day. However, crew will switch around throughout the week and sometimes in the day. At 5:00, we let our final guests enjoy the activities before packing up all the equipment and storing it away for the day. Event days happen throughout the summer and Adventure Crew may work a little longer day (and busier too!). Those days are special, a little harder, a lot more fun! This day begins around 8:30am as we open our office. A day in the life of the Activity Center would include assisting guests in finding the right adventures to fill their day, helping them to fill out their paperwork and selling tickets amongst many many other responsibilities. We are knowledgeable about Schweitzer, about Sandpoint, and about all the fun things to do. A day rarely goes by without a new question to answer or information to pass along (perhaps where the good huckleberry picking is that day). Testing the Schweitzer fun stuff is not only encouraged, but sometimes mandatory so we know what to tell people. We answer a lot of questions, a lot of phone calls, some e mails and have a large part in helping our hotel guests to organize their vacation. We are personable, fun, engaging and hardworking! We love people! While this job is inside at the desk, it is a direct link to the Adventure Crew outside and are considered to be within the Activities family. Miscellaneous - Adventure Camp Counselor

Description: If kids are your life, this is your job! Work with a camp supervisor to oversee a group of about 15 kids. Kids attend our Schweitzer Adventure Camp Monday through Friday from 8am to 4pm. There are seven weeks to choose from and they are usually all sold out. We pick up campers at the bottom of the mountain, drive them up, entertain them all day and drive them back down again to deliver tired kiddos to parents. Each week the kids get to climb the wall, do the monkey jump, sluice for gemstones, ride the chairlift, hike, swim every day, play lots of games, bbq hot dogs on Fridays and so much more! The camp counselor and camp supervisor are responsible for ensuring camper safety while making this the most memorable week of their lives. This is often described as the most fun job on the mountain as well as the most difficult job on the mountain. Camp counselors tend to head home just as exhausted as the campers. We are fun, silly, and adventurous! While Schweitzer Adventure Camp tends to be on its own agenda, it is considered to be within the Activities family. Event days happen throughout the summer and camp counselors may be asked to work an extra day that week. Those days are special, busy and a lot of fun! When not working, our camp counselors get to enjoy all the Schweitzer has to offer in the summer. Come ride the chairlift, play on the climbing wall, or have lunch with your employee discount. We pick up campers at the bottom of the mountain, drive them up, entertain them all day and drive them back down again to deliver tired kiddos to parents. Each week the kids get to climb the wall, do the monkey jump, sluice for gemstones, ride the chairlift, hike, swim every day, play lots of games, bbq hot dogs on Fridays and so much more! The camp supervisor is responsible for planning the week’s activities, giving the camp counselor direction, and working as a team to ensure camper safety while making this the most memorable week of their lives. This is often described as the most fun job on the mountain as well as the most difficult job on the mountain. Camp counselors tend to head home just as exhausted as the campers. We are fun, silly, and adventurous! While Schweitzer Adventure Camp tends to be on its own agenda, it is considered to be within the Activities family. Event days happen throughout the summer and camp counselors may be asked to work an extra day that week. Those days are special, busy and a lot of fun! When not working, our camp supervisor gets to enjoy all the Schweitzer has to offer in the summer. Come ride the chairlift, play on the climbing wall, or have lunch with your employee discount. Qualifications: PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Can vary physical position or activity for comfort and can take breaks at will. Position entails 10% sitting and 90% active movement; will lift 25lbs frequently. Must bend, squat, kneel, climb, twist, and reach above shoulder level frequently, will use hands for grasping, pushing and pulling, and fine manipulation. Worksite is 25% inside and 75% outside. Hazards include variable weather and terrain. OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES: Must have extensive knowledge of Schweitzer Mountain facilities and activities. Responsibilities are listed as guidelines and the position is not necessarily limited to these items. JOB SPECIFICATIONS: SKILLS: Needs CPR and first aid training; must be certified or willing to be trained. Basic swimming skills required. Lifeguard certification preferred, or will be trained in Red Cross basic water rescue. ATTRIBUTES: Positive attitude, patient, confident, creative, loves kids, mature, and enjoys outdoor adventures. EDUCATION: English reading, writing, and communication, basic math. EXPERIENCE: Camp counselor, outdoor education or teaching experience. LICENSE NEEDED: Background check or residency requirement.
