Adjunct Instructor of Italian
- Lettere e Filosofia, Università di Firenze
Barbara Lastrucci was born in Firenze and has lived there all her life. She graduated from the Università di Firenze with a degree in Lettere e Filosofia and a thesis on Modern History and has been teaching Italian at Gonzaga in Florence since 1995. Barbara believes that it is important to understand student expectations, make language courses practical and help students meet their goals. According to Barbara, "Nothing is more gratifying for a student than to perceive his/her progress in everyday communication skills without being overwhelmed by theoretical grammar." She feels that a teacher must keep in mind that students are not only learning how to speak a language, but also how to live in a different culture. Learning the language is a key to understanding the culture.
