Why are you in admissions at Gonzaga?
I am an admission counselor at Gonzaga because I want to give back to this community that gave me so much. As an immigrant and first generation college student, I cannot imagine a place that could have made me feel more supported and recognized. I only hope to be a small part of continuing the excellent level of education and care that Gonzaga provides to its students.
Where is your favorite place on campus?
My favorite place on campus is Lake Arthur. When I visited Gonzaga during GEL weekend as a high school senior, one of my first experiences of the Zag community was when I met other students (future friends) at S’mores on the Shore as the moonlight glistened down onto the lake. It was like a scene out of a movie.
What is your favorite thing to do in Spokane?
I have become obsessed with hiking in Spokane! There are so many trails to hike, run, and mountain bike in the area. Spokane has made me more adventurous.
What is one piece of advice you have for prospective students?
Ignatius of Loyola who founded the Jesuit order said, “Go forth and set the world on fire.” I believe that a college education is more than just earning a degree; it is also about transforming young people to be responsible citizens and leaders in our global community. I hope that students take the time to discern whether a college or university is a good fit to educate them in such a way.
