Program Overview

This six-credit, month-long summer program, sponsored by the Comprehensive Leadership Program (CLP), provides a you with a transformational opportunity to immerse yourself in another culture while gaining a deeper understanding of culturally intelligent leadership, a greater sense of self-awareness, and critical engagement with intercultural competencies.

Essential to this academic experience is your involvement in a variety of community development projects. The essence of the program is rooted in accompaniment - meaning that while in Zambezi, you generate opportunities to receive in the places you serve, become mutually indebted to the community, and develop meaningful relationship that assist you in operating at eye-level.

You'll spend three weeks in Zambezi studying leadership and performing community development activities including leadership, training, educational literacy projects, a health education program, and teaching basic computer skills. The program also includes a 3-day visit to Livingstone, Zambia. While in Livingstone, you will visit the famous Victoria Falls and go on a wildlife safari in beautiful Chobe National Park in Botswana.

When should I apply?

The deadline to apply is November 1st. Please keep the following in mind: 

  • Early Application is encourage as space is limited.
  • Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis up to the application deadline.
  • Operation of this program is dependent upon meeting a minimum enrollment.

Deposit Information

Within two weeks of the date of acceptance, you must pay a $500 deposit to confirm your participation in the program. The deposit is applied to the cost of the program.

Program Requirements

Gonzaga-in-Zambezi is open to all undergraduates who meet the following admission requirements:

  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Office of Community Standards & Study Abroad clearance
  • Committee selection

Passport Information

Your passport must be valid for six months after the end of the study abroad program.
