Visible Bones Description 

The goal of a liberal arts education is to give you multiple windows through which to view the world you live in, to help you see places and people and problems from different perspectives at the same time. This is what Jack Nisbet does in Visible Bones. He looks at the land and people defined by the waters of the Columbia River through many windows—history, biology, geology, sociology, oral tradition and mythology, to name a few—and from that collection of different perspectives we create for ourselves a broader and deeper picture of the region and our place in it. With Visible Bones pertaining to the area in which you will live during these next four years, we hope that this 250-page book serves as a microcosm of what we hope your experience at Gonzaga will do for you.

You are encouraged to start reading as soon as possible, so head to your library or bookstore and pick up a copy. The book will be integrated in several of your freshman classes. If you have any questions, please email orientation@gonzaga.edu.
