Mission Statement:

The Gonzaga University Dance Team is committed to providing dancers with the opportunity to develop personal growth, school spirit, creativity and appreciation for the arts through entertainment.

Welcome to the GU Dance Team . . .

Established in 1995, this student-run organization has grown tremendously! The group was originally started as an outlet for students to share their love for dance. Today, the Dance Team is a performance and competition squad that can be seen performing at all Gonzaga men and women basketball games as well as other school and community events.

Jazz, Pom, and Hip-Hop are among the styles of dance used during performance. The squad will consists of 12-15 advanced level dancers who dedicate their time outside of class to entertaining the Gonzaga Community.

Prospective Dancers . . .

Two auditions are held for the GU Dance Team. Half the team will be chosen during spring auditions held at the end of April. Fall auditions are held shortly after school begins and will fill the remaining spots. Both auditions are open to any GU student who would like to try out for the team. Announcements of specific dates and times will be released in the weeks preceding each audition.

Performance & Practice Schedule

The Dance Team performs on court at Men's and Women's Basketball games, other sporting events, school sponsored activities, and community events.  The team practices approximately three days a week in the evenings and are arranged around each member's academic schedule.

Dance Team Clinics . . .             Kids Camp 2005

The Dance Team holds an annual kids clinic every fall for children in grades K - 8. The children take an all day dance class and learn a routine as well as play games, enjoy lunch, spend time with "Spike" make a craft and get a great GU Dance Team T-Shirt and other prizes. The children later perform their learned routine at a Gonzaga Women's Basketball game that afternoon or evening. This is a great fundraiser for the team and a great way to work with children of all ages and talents within the Spokane community.

THIS YEAR'S GU DANCE TEAM KIDS CLINIC IS . . .

Saturday, February 2nd from 10:00 a.m. to 2 p.m. -- with participants performing at the 2 p.m. Women's Basketball game.  Please e-mail Chris Rehwald for participation forms and waiver forms.  Don't miss out on this year's GU DANCE TEAM KID'S CLINIC at Gonzaga University - Martin Centre and MAC Center.

USA Collegiate Nationals . . .

For the past several years the GU Dance Team has competed at the United Spirit Association Collegiate Nationals in Las Vegas, NV. Dancing among other top ranked universities, the competition helps develop technique and foster team unity.
