Homeless Outreach

The Homeless Outreach program provides opportunities for students to learn about homelessness in Spokane, to connect with people experiencing homelessness, and to raise awareness about housing, poverty, and other social justice issues. Some students volunteer once a week at a local shelter or transitional housing site, getting to know residents and learning about the services that local organizations provide. Other students participate in an intensive overnight Urban Plunge experience that includes going a downtown tour, eating a meal at a homeless shelter, and hearing stories from people who have experienced homelessness.
