Charter - Gonzaga's Journal of Scholarship and Opinion
One of the goals of a liberal arts university is to develop well-rounded individuals -- students who have, at the very least, a working understanding of every major field of human knowledge. We hope this year's Charter reflects this ideal, both in the breadth of disciplines represented and in teh intelligence of the ideas and opinions expressed. Many selections are interdisciplinary in nature, and several authors have extended their inquiries into subjects outside their major field of study. Similarly diverse are this collection's implications. Some essays examine pressing social concerns, both within our own university community and the world at large. Others address more abstract aesthetic of philosophical issues.
We hope that this variety will not only provide something of interest to everyone, but also encourage members of the Gonzaga community to examine a few subjects and perspectives they might otherwise overlook.
