Sexual Misconduct
At Gonzaga, sexual misconduct is a broad term used to describe many behaviors including sexual harassment, sexual violence, and/or discrimination and harassment based on sex or gender. These behaviors include things such as rape, sexual assault, stalking, domestic violence, sexual exploitation and coercion and others. Sexual misconduct runs contrary to Gonzaga's mission, values, and Ethos Statement. In addition to being prohibited by University policy, sexual misconduct is also prohibited by a federal law known as Title IX. The University does not discriminate on the basis of sex in any of its programs and nondiscrimination is required by Title IX.
When sexual misconduct is reported, Gonzaga is ready to respond. Campus Public Safety and Security, along with on call Student Life staff, are available to help and support students who report any form of sexual misconduct. The University has a Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) composed of staff and faculty who available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year to respond when a report is made and help students get connected to support resources, on and off campus. Professional staff from the Student Life Office are also available to help students get in touch with local law enforcement and community support agencies. It is our goal that students report all incidents of sexual and relationship misconduct so that those impacted can receive the support and resources they need, and that those found responsible for violations of the Code of Conduct can be held accountable. We invite you to visit the navigation tabs on the left to get more information about help, support, and how to report incidents of sexual misconduct.
Gonzaga University is committed to fostering a safe and healthy environment free from sexual misconduct of any form. By accepting their admission to Gonzaga University, students agree to live by our policies, values, and expectations.
