2009-10 Opening and Closing Dates
FALL SEMESTER 2009
Check-In for New Residents Only
Friday, August 28, 2009 9:00 am to 4:00 pm and Saturday, August 29, 2009 9:00 am to noon; New residents should check-in at their assigned building. Please do not arrive before Friday, August 29 unless you are approved to participate in a pre-orientation program. Our residence life staff is involved in training and is not available to check you in or provide support unit Friday, August 28. Rest assured, even with orientation and other activities, you will still have plenty of time get moved-in, locate the bookstore, find your classrooms, and explore Spokane a bit before classes begin Tuesday, September 1. Please make your travel arrangements accordingly.
Check-In for Returning Residents
Sunday, August 30, 2009 noon to 5:00 pm: Returning residents may check in at their assigned building. Please do not arrive before Sunday, August 30. Our residence life staff is involved in orientation activities and not available to check you in or provide support to you until Sunday, August 30 You will still have plenty of time get moved-in and buy your books before classes begin Tuesday, September 1. Please make your travel arrangements accordingly.
Thanksgiving Break
All residence buildings will remain accessible to fall semester occupants.
Closing for Christmas Break (Incl. Check-out for Residents Not Returning for the Spring Semester)
Residence buildings (except for Kennedy and Corkery) close for the Christmas break. Residents must vacate their room within 24 hours of your last final exam or by Friday, December 18, at 10:00 a.m. (whichever occurs first). At this time, most building entrances will be re-keyed and kept locked until the spring semester opening on Sunday, January 10, 2010.
SPRING SEMESTER 2010
Opening After Christmas Break (Incl. Check-in for New Spring Semester Residents)
Residence halls reopen for the spring semester at 10 am on Sunday, January 10, 2010. New residents may check-in at their assigned building.
Spring Break
All residence buildings will remain accessible to spring semester residents.
Saturday, May 8 , 2010 12:00 pm (noon): Residence halls and apartments (except those apartments used for summer school housing) close for the summer. Residents should check out within 24 hours of their last final exam or by this date and time (whichever occurs first). Those graduating or needing an extension to these deadlines should see their Resident Director well in advance. The Housing Office will coordinate the move or residents transitioning from academic year housing to summer school housing. However, due to the uncertainty in preparing the summer apartments, residents transitioning should remain on-campus between the end of finals and the start of summer session I. It is important for residents to transition as soon as the apartments are prepared.
