About Lofts and Beds

Beds

Each on-campus bedroom has a twin sized bed (except for Kennedy which has full sized bed). The supplied mattress may be longer than standard length so extra long sheets are recommended (except for Kennedy where the bed is standard length). The university has a limited number of beds available for the very tall (6' 4" or above).

Some halls have beds that are "bunkable" with "pins" or "extensions" supplied by Plant Services. Other halls have beds that may not be "bunked", but may be "lofted" (student supplied).

Lofts (student supplied)

The university allows students to supply their own lofts. However, before students go to the time and expense of lofting their bed, we strongly recommend that students discuss their plans with their roommates.  Lofting of the beds in a room is a mutual decision.

The university does not offer any "plans" nor do we supply materials, tools, or assembly help. Further, the university requires the submittal of a loft policy agreement before any assembly may occur. Failure to submit a loft policy agreement or adhere to the terms and conditions of the agreement may result in a requirement to immediately disassemble the loft.  Under no circumstances, should beds be placed on cinder blocks or other unstable items.

Loft Kits (university supplied)

The university has a limited supply of "loft kits" which were designed specifically by the bed manufacturer. The loft kits may be reserved through Plant Services. Plant Services will assemble the university supplied loft kits.
