Reality CAMP 2008 is now full,
we are no longer taking registrations!
Reality Camp is a pre-orientation service learning experience brought to you by the Center for Community Action & Service-Learning (CCASL)
So, what exactly is Reality CAMP?
Reality CAMP or Community Action Means Progress is a pre-orientation event for incoming Gonzaga University freshmen. Reality CAMP invites students to campus a week before orientation to participate in a 5-day long community building program. You and approximately 40 of your fellow students will engage in various community service projects around Spokane. You will live, serve and reflect on your experiences together. This is a wonderful opportunity to create lasting friendships and develop strong bonds with the Gonzaga and Spokane Community!
Please note: Reality CAMP is an experience based on simplicity and community. Our meals and accommodations will be intentionally modest, yet meaningful and fun. We will be staying at Twohy Hall on Gonzaga's campus most of the week.
When is it?
Sunday, August 24th - Thursday, August 28th, 2008
Students will arrive on Sunday, August 24th between noon and 5pm. Transportation from the Spokane airport will be provided. Service activities run Monday morning through Thursday afternoon. Regular orientation and move-in for those students not living in Twohy Hall will begin on Friday, August 29th.
You do not need to make additional accommodations for Thursday evening (August 28th). You will be able to stay in Twohy or move into your assigned residence hall for the remainder of the year.

What does it involve?
Community service will involve a multitude of activities based in Spokane's urban core and beyond. In the past, we've helped at a homeless shelter, worked in a community garden, renovated a community center for individuals with disabilities and much more! Each day will bring new adventures, as several service-oriented projects are planned! We will be participating in a morning and afternoon service project which allows us to experience the variety of agencies and services Spokane has to offer.
We will be eating simple meals, but if others in Spokane can do it, so can we! During the week we will use a variety of transportation. Students will get to their sites by van, bike or on foot. Bring those walking shoes!
Wednesday night enjoy a dinner hosted by a faculty or staff member.
Who can be involved?
All incoming freshmen are encouraged to participate. The Twohy Hall Service-Learning and Leadership community reserves some slots for Twohy residents. If you are interested in living in Twohy click here. For questions about living in Twohy Hall, contact Dave Houglum at houglum@gonzaga.edu or 509-313-4648.
Costs?
