As part of the School of Professional Studies, the Bachelor of General Studies program is the only fully undergraduate academic program that directly addresses the non-traditional student (25 years of age and older) seeking an undergraduate degree from Gonzaga University. Students in the BGS program are subject to all Gonzaga requirements and policies for a bachelor's degree, with the exceptions of a separate core pattern and substitution of an area of concentration for a major field.

The Bachelor of General Studies consists of two programs of study:

BGS Traditional Program:
Since 1975, the BGS traditional track has offered a flexible, customized degree, enabling students to enjoy day-time instruction from qualified faculty university-wide. Each traditional track BGS student completes a core of 40 semester credits and an area of concentration that is designed by the student with the consultation of an advisor. Students must complete at least 21 credits in their area of concentration. Nine of these credits must be upper division level courses. Exceeding the minimal amount is highly recommended. Each student enrolled in this program receives a significant scholarship in the form of a tuition reduction.

BGS Organizational Leadership Program:
In the summer of 2000, the School of Professional Studies began the Bachelor of General Studies Organizational Leadership track. This track is designed for the working adult who has completed previous undergraduate coursework. Typically, students transfer in 55 semester credits that fulfill a majority of the 40 credit BGS core requirements. Upon completion of this program, students will earn a bachelor's degree with a concentration in Organizational Leadership, an area of study that is particularly effective in meeting the practical requirements of professional advancement and career marketability. Each student enrolled in this program receives a significant scholarship in the form of a tuition reduction.

In addition, the Organizational Leadership track offers courses in an accelerated format: two 8 week sessions per semester through a blended format of Saturday and online venues.
