CATCH the Rising Stars

Gonzaga University is proud to sponsor "First Night Rising Stars" a showcase of aspiring performing and visual artists in Spokane.

Gonzaga's arts education enriches the community in many ways - performing and visual arts come alive with the energy and skill of engaged students and committed faculty.  This new initiative presents a dynamic environment for these gifted artists from the University, as well as young people from Spokane Public Schools and other educational institutions in Spokane's downtown.
 
Working in partnership with First Night Spokane, the New Year's Eve festival of arts and entertainment, young performers are featured in venues throughout the urban core during First Fridays, the free artwalk series that showcases and celebrates the arts on the first Friday of every month.
 
Look for GU artists, groups, and affiliated performers in the Atrium of River Park Square, and other venues throughout downtown.
 
Friday, October 7             7:30-9:30 p.m. 
The Big Bing Theory.  The University's signature a cappella group named for Gonzaga's most famous alumnus Bing Crosby performs an array of classics and new arrangements.

Swashbuckling 101.  Actors from Gonzaga's theatre arts department demonstrate swashbuckling skills developed for the upcoming performance of "The Three Musketeers," on stage at Gonzaga's Magnuson Theatre later this month.
 
Friday, October 7             5:30-7:30 p.m.
Music and scenes from Lionel Bart's Oliver!  Ferris High School theatre arts department performs, with a cast of 90 featuring not only Ferris students, but students from Chase and Sacajawea Middle schools, Adams, Mullan Road, Hamblen, Jefferson Elementary schools, as well as Southside Christian, All Saints Catholic and Cataldo Catholic schools.
