Outcomes Assessment

Institutional Research supports the campus community with assessment work around learning outcomes and program outcomes.  IR understands Outcomes Assessment as the systematic collection, analysis, interpretation, and use of actionable information about services, activities, or experiences to understand whether they are having the desired impact on those who partake in them.  Assessment is about continuous quality improvement, accountability, effectiveness and efficiency.

IR can provide guidance at all stages of the outcomes assessment process, from writing outcomes or goals, to ways of reporting out your assessment results.  We can help you determine the best practices, methods and instruments for your purposes, as well.  Our office has a library of books, articles, and resource websites that may assist you and your department.  Please contact us via e-mail if you need assistance with outcomes assessment.

The Office of Outcomes Assessment supports the academic community with Learning Outcomes Assessment.  This office offers workshops, resources, and information in cooperation with the Center for Teaching and Advising (CTA).

TracDat is an online tool to support assessment.  Academic Technology Applications Support (ATAS) provides training and support for the use of TracDat in managing assessment reporting and records.

Accreditation

Gonzaga University is accredited, as an institution, by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU).  As a process, accreditation reflects the fact that Gonzaga is committed to self-study and external review and seeks not only to meet standards but to continuously seek to enhance the quality of education provided at the institution.  In addition to institutional accreditation, Gonzaga participates in specialized accreditation for various schools and programs.

Strategic Planning

Institutional Research supports the campus community with work related to Strategic Planning.  IR understands integrated Strategic Planning as the linking of vision, priorities, people, and the physical institution in a flexible system of evaluation, decision-making and action.  Strategic Planning shapes and guides the entire organization as it evolves over time and within its community. 

IR can provide guidance at all stages of the strategic planning process, from visioning during the beginning of the cycle, SWOT analyses during the cycle, and to ways of reporting results of institutional and educational effectiveness.  We can help you determine the best practices, methods and instruments for your planning tools, as well.  Our office has a library of books, articles, and resource websites that may assist you and your department.  Please contact us via e-mail if you need assistance with outcomes assessment.

The Board of Trustees approved Gonzaga University's Strategic Plan July 17, 2015.  Revisions to the plan were introduced to, and approved by, the Board of Trustees July 6, 2016.  This is meant to be a "living plan" that will continue to evolve, as does the University and its opportunities.  Please contact the University President's Office for information on Gonzaga University's Strategic Plan.
