Estakio Beltran (’05) serves as the Senior Policy Advisor to U.S. House of Representative, Congressman Dennis Cardoza. Prior to this appointment, Beltran served as Special Assistant to U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell.

As a foster child moving from home to home and school to school, Beltran never dreamed of college until a Gonzaga representative spoke to him in his senior year of high school. He attended Gonzaga on a Washington State Achievers Scholarship, and became an outspoken advocate for orphans and foster children. As a representative of Orphan Foundation of America he was on a Congressional advisory panel for the federal Education and Training Voucher Program to help foster youth attend colleges and training program. In 2003, he was awarded the prestigious Golden Tennis Shoe award by U.S. Senator Patty Murray, D-Wash., for outstanding citizenship. That same year he was honored by Gonzaga University for his volunteer work. Upon graduation Beltran moved to Washington, D.C., where in his work on Capitol Hill he continues to work tirelessly on behalf of vulnerable populations.
