Raymond F. Reyes, Ph.D.
The Associate Mission Vice President for Intercultural Relations

The Office of the Associate Mission Vice President for Intercultural Relations was established in 1998 to assist Gonzaga University in its desire to develop and implement a comprehensive mission-centered diversity program addressing our major goal areas: campus climate, intercultural competency and diversity leadership, recruitment and retention, and community outreach and social justice. These goals infuse the values of respect, inclusion, and compassion within our community consciousness.
Through the energetic, innovative, and creative leadership and coordination of people and resources, the AMVP assists the University in undertaking and carrying out a program of comprehensive, broad-based initiatives aiming to address the fact that Gonzaga does not reflect the diversity of our nation, and to promote awareness, acceptance, and achievement of racial equality and cultural understanding at all levels of the University. Specifically, the Associate Mission Vice President strives to increase diversity in the faculty, student and staff populations, assist in creating a catalyst for transforming the campus climate through a variety of activities and programs, and works with faculty members in academic skills unique to diversity education, including curriculum development and pedagogical reform, so that ultimately we are able to provide our students role models of social justice activism which better prepare them to live and work effectively in a multicultural society. The AMVP assists the University in keeping diversity issues at the fore of its consciousness by providing an ongoing focus and momentum for these efforts.
