School of Nursing & Human Physiology
Welcome to the School of Nursing & Human Physiology (SNHP)
Recognizing the growing need for health care professionals across the globe, Gonzaga established the School of Nursing and Human Physiology (SNHP) in July 2013. This new school builds on the strengths of the current programs while heightening the awareness of the human science and health professions school in the Jesuit, Catholic tradition.
The school provides students opportunities to contribute in significant ways to the field of health care through education, research collaboration with exemplary faculty and engagement with the greater Spokane community, as well as national and international constituencies.
The two founding departments of the integrated SNHP, Nursing and Human Physiology, are robust programs offering both undergraduate and graduate degrees, with significant portions of the graduate and doctorate portions delivered online.
Gonzaga’s nursing program, accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, offers bachelor, master’s and doctoral degrees. The program focuses on the values of servant leadership, social justice, community and reflective practice. Students learn to embrace the framework of Complex Adaptive Systems that include a nurse’s work, nursing roles and the complexity of health care that involves organizations, individuals, families and communities.
The human physiology program provides students with a foundation for careers in health and allied health fields, research, teaching and private industry.
The Doctorate of Nurse Anesthesia Practice (DNAP) program is accredited through October of 2016 and is scheduled for ongoing accreditation by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs.
Also envisioned for the School are the collaborative development of other health and health-related programs that further the principles of social justice and service to vulnerable populations.
