Dr. Silliman has been pursuing university teaching and research for over 30 years. Joining Gonzaga University as the Dean of Engineering and Applied Science in 2012, Dean Silliman brought with him a love of working with students, and a desire to understand and share the potential for engineering / applied science to help shape natural and built environments. His research efforts have focused on the protection and sustainability of groundwater resources as studied through mathematical and physical experiments on groundwater flow and the movement of chemicals/microbes in the subsurface. Since the late 1990s, Dr. Silliman has worked with colleagues from the Université d’Abomey-Calavi and Centre Afrika Obota in Benin, West Africa, on various initiatives related to water resources and development. Dr. Silliman has been recognized nationally and internally for his teaching, service, and research. In 2006, he received the ASEE Outstanding Teaching Award as well as the ASEE Global Engineering and Engineering Technology Award. In 2011, he was selected as the National Ground Water Association Distinguished Darcy Lecturer, an internationally renowned program.
Dean Silliman would like to welcome each and all of you in exploring our School through these pages and, hopefully, in visiting and studying at Gonzaga University!
