The healthcare industry is rapidly changing and needs leaders with both the technical knowledge and management skills to move it forward. Gonzaga's MBA in Healthcare Management (MBA/HCM) program is designed to train administrators to manage the businesses that produce and deliver healthcare services. We are committed to developing innovative and ethical leaders with the ability to think critically and creatively about the problems facing healthcare today.
Gonzaga's MBA/HCM brings together working professionals from across the healthcare industry to discuss, analyze, and evaluate the business of healthcare management. Past students have come from a number of professional backgrounds including hospital administration, nursing, general practice, and pharmacy. Comprised of approximately 50% traditional MBA courses and 50% healthcare-specific courses, the program equips its graduates with the knowledge and insight to add value to the organizations they serve.

A PROGRAM FOR WORKING PROFESSIONALS
Gonzaga's MBA in Healthcare Management program is designed to accommodate the complex schedules of working professionals in the healthcare industry.
Each course is delivered 50% online and 50% in the classroom. To complete the classroom portion, students come to campus two weekends per semester.
Students in the Spokane area have the option of taking traditional MBA courses on campus in the evenings. Commuter students can take traditional MBA classes in the hybrid format.
Courses are offered on a two-year rotating basis. Students may elect to complete the program in 2-4 years, and work with a personal advisor to meet completion time goals while maintaining a balanced schedule.
CURRICULUM DESIGNED TO ADD VALUE
The MBA in Healthcare Management curriculum was designed under the guidance of a healthcare task force, comprised of healthcare executives from the Inland Northwest. With the help of this task force, the school of business developed a curriculum that provides students with a well-rounded business education, while allowing them the ability to tailor the program based on personal and professional goals. Gonzaga's MBA/HCM program is comprised of half traditional MBA classes and half healthcare specific classes.
Some healthcare-specific courses include: Healthcare Economics, Management of Medical Groups, Healthcare Ethics, Healthcare Law, Management of Healthcare Finance, and Healthcare Information Systems.
Students can take nearly a third of their course work as electives, taking classes such as Healthcare Delivery Systems, Current Issues in Healthcare Management, Strategic Planning, and Community Health Promotion.
FACULTY DEDICATED TO STUDENTS' SUCCESS
All courses are taught by either tenure or tenure-track faculty from the Gonzaga School of Business or professionally qualified adjuncts. Professors are highly accessible to students.
Faculty members include: Nancy Chase, Ph.D., Professor of Management Information Systems; Vickie Williams, J.D., School of Law, Professor and Associate Dean; Brian Steverson, Ph.D., Professor of Business Ethics; Mirjeta Beqiri, Ph.D., Professor of Operations Management; Erica Johnson, Ph.D., Professor of Economics. Faculty members are active in healthcare research and many are active in professional consulting.
Past adjunct professors have included: Steven Duvoisin, CEO, Duvoisin & Associates Healthcare Business Services; Dan Hiebert, Chief Reimbursement Officer, Inland Imaging; Charles Hough, MD, MBA, Physician, Rockwood Clinic; Garman Lutz, past President and CEO of Deaconess Medical Center.

An additional requirement for the MBA in Healthcare Management program is that all applicants must have a minimum of 2 years of professional experience with a minimum of 6 months in the healthcare industry. Those that do not have healthcare-related work experience may be admitted if they are completing a concurrent internship.
Please note: The GMAT exam is waived for applicants who hold a professional doctoral degree, such as MD, DDS, or PhD.
