At Gonzaga University's Art Department, you'll find uncrowded, quiet studios that allow for reflection and exploration. You'll find one-on-one time with experienced professors who know your name and encourage your ideas. You'll also find ample opportunities to investigate different forms of media. At Gonzaga University's Art Department, students pursuing a degree in the graphic and plastic arts can find their home away from home.

The Department of Art offers students the opportunity to explore the varieties of visual experience through the graphic and plastic arts and offers a Bachelor of Arts degree. Some of the department's courses are also offered at Gonzaga-in-Florence.

For teacher certification, students should confer with the School of Education. For students intending to go to graduate school, additional work beyond the minimum major requirements is strongly encouraged.

ATTENTION - Senior Art Majors

Portfolio Review for Thesis

Each student planning to take VART499 in Spring 2015 must meet with the Art Dept studio art faculty prior to the end of Oct 2014.  The purpose of this portfolio review is to discuss your art and course work in the major so far, your intended goals for the senior year as an art major, and the steps you need to take in order to make progress towards these goals.  Each student will be expected to bring a portfolio of work to the review session or show a computer presentation of the work.  Include in your portfolio any works that you're currently working on.  Please be aware that any of your artwork eventually selected for the senior show should come out of 300-level or higher VART courses.
