• Area of Study: Humanities, International Studies, International Business (all in English). Japanese, Japanese Studies.
• Term: year, semester
• GPA & Requirement: 3.0, two years of Japanese language (year and semester only)
• Program Cost: Gonzaga University tuition. Student pays housing and fees at Akita International University. Airfare and textbooks are not included.
• Application Deadline:
  Extended to March 1, 2013
  Exchange programs are limited in space. It is recommended you apply early. Late applications are considered on a space-available basis.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Akita International University (AIU) is a junior year, semester, or summer exchange program. Study at AIU, a small, liberal arts college with a global orientation, located in the beautiful Akita Prefecture on the northern Japanese seaboard. Humanities and business courses are taught in English and a variety of Japanese language courses are offered. Students live in university dorms. Prerequisite: Two years of Japanese.

GU Study Abroad

TO APPLY

• Exchange programs can be competitive as there are limited number of spaces available each year. Apply early.
• Students are selected by GU and recommended to the partner university. The application below serves as your intent to apply to Akita International University exchange program.

Application Procedure

1. Exchange application form  (type directly into pdf and then print complete application)
2. $50 non-refundable study abroad application fee payable via Study Abroad CASHNet
3. One (1) GU Academic Recommendation (pdf)
4. One (1) Akita Academic Recommendation
   The Akita Academic Recommendation form may not be immediately available. Once this recommendation is available online from Akita International University, submit it to GU Study Abroad.
5. GU Student Life clearance online form
6. Submit application and academic recommendation forms to GU Study Abroad by the deadline. Applications may be submitted without the Akita recommendation form if not yet available.
7. After the application deadline, upon recommendation from GU, you will then be asked to complete the partner university's application. All application materials will be collected by GU Study Abroad to be sent to the partner university.
