ROTC cadets have a unique opportunity during the summer after their sophomore year. They are allowed to attend various army schools including Airborne, Air Assault, Mountain Warfare, Northern Warfare. Selection for these schools can be highly competitive, but cadets who return the following year always feel it was well worth the effort.

Another exciting opportunity offered to cadets is Cadet Troop Leadership Training. This program is normally available to cadets immediately following completion of National Advanced Leadership Camp. This program is similar to an internship, in that cadets spend three weeks with an active unit in the army, and are given many of the rights and responsibilities of a Platoon Leader. Some select cadets are given the chance to spend two weeks working in the Pentagon as an aide. Either way, this glimpse of life in the active Army is an invaluable opportunity for cadets. More information is available at the Army ROTC homepage.

Cadets are also given the opportunity to enroll in the Simultaneous Multi-Enlistment Program. This program allows cadets to join Washington National guards units in their weekend drill cycles and train along side guardsmen while learning their jobs and earning National Guard drill pay as well. There is a wide variety of units that operate in Washington State allowing cadets many different branches to choose from.
