Office of Intercultural Relations
Our mission is to promote the Jesuit and Catholic ideals of social justice and service
by nurturing the dignity of all people in creating
an inclusive and generative multicultural academic community.
Welcome! The Diversity Office strives to increase diversity in the faculty, student and staff populations, assist in sustaining a welcoming and supportive campus learning and living environment through a variety of collaborative activities and programs, and consults with faculty across the disciplines on culturally responsive instructional practices unique to diversity education, including course development and pedagogical innovation. The Jesuit belief in the active presence of God in all things inspires the university's diversity programs, activities, and initiatives so that we prepare students with the cognitive, affective and behavorial intercultural skills to successfully live and work in highly multicultural settings in a global context.
In collaborative partnership with colleagues from the Spokane community, the GU Student Life Division and university faculty across the professional schools and the College of Arts and Sciences, the Diversity Office creates multiple opportuntiies for students to engage "the other" and experience the notion that human differences makes the difference through which learning ocurrs and thrives.
