Goodrich Gas Infiltration System

The extent of the project is to develop, construct and deliver a prototype and tester for a machine that will create gas infiltration pathways in Goodrich Aircraft Brake disks. Pathways in the carbon- carbon brake disks allow for greater flow during a natural gas and high temperature bake, and thus the disk emerges harder and with a better uniform density.

Goodrich manufactures the break disks for use in wheel assemblies of commercial and military aircraft. The increased capabilities that our device delivers, translates into a greater number of aircraft landings and thus a higher payback per manufactured break disk. The design process will result in deliverables that include: engineering documentation, models, proof of concept devices, test devices and a final working prototype.
