ELI Mentoring Program
The transition from High School to College is one of the most significant changes many people experience. Having the support of someone who has been there can determine the difference between a challenging experience and a successful one. The Experiential Leadership Institute Mentoring Program provides Gonzaga Freshmen with a student mentor who is both a friend and a role model. Our mentors support and encourage a younger partner in his/her academic and personal growth. The mentor is also a guide who helps a young person make the difficult change from high school to college; from home to campus. This time of transition is especially important, for it is a time when people are making decisions about how much - or how little-they can expect to achieve.
Mentors and mentees develop their relationships as they participate together in social, cultural, and recreational activities, community service projects, tutoring, or any of the many different activities that friends enjoy. Whatever the activity, mentoring provides guidance and support and establishes service as an integral part of student life and the college experience.
The time commitment in this mentor relationship would be one or two agreed-upon gatherings a month with your mentor for the academic year 2012-13.
