Shaw Connection is a campus-based after school mentoring program designed to increase the self-esteem and academic success of 7^th and 8^th grade students at Shaw Middle School.  From 3:30 to 5:30 every Wednesday afternoon, Shaw Middle School students join their Gonzaga mentor on Gonzaga's campus to participate in an educational tutoring activity, share a snack, and partake in a recreational activity together.  Once a month, Shaw students also engage in a Saturday activity with their Gonzaga mentor such as ice skating, rock climbing, or visiting Greenbluff farms. Shaw Connection is a year-long commitment for GU students.  In facilitating opportunities for Logan's at-risk youth to interact with college students, the program establishes successful relationships, provides opportunities for participation in varied academic, recreational, and social activities, and helps mentees to create a vision for their future.
