MESSAGE FROM THE UNIVERSITY PRESIDENT
WELCOME!

When I first came to Gonzaga as an undergraduate student in 1970, I was more interested in numbers and professional success than in the humanities. However, a dedicated and concerned faculty led me toward a love for the great ideas. These ideas gave me more purpose in life and broadened my vision, relationships, goals, creativity, leadership ability, and spirit. You may already be familiar with many of these ideas: happiness, God’s providence, the purpose of suffering, freedom, love, the common good, ethics and rights.
During graduation events this spring, and at the alumni reunions in June, many alums, both new and old, recounted stories similar to my own. I thought to myself, Gonzaga University is still doing what it does best. It is still imparting a system of learning, friendship, and faith that lasts a lifetime--a lifetime fully enhanced by this spirit freely given.
I hope and pray that your Gonzaga experience will be the same: an experience of lifelong learning, friendship, faith and transformation.I look forward to seeing you in the fall at our various orientation activities and throughout the year.
Sincerely yours,
Robert J. Spitzer, S.J., Ph.D.
University President
WELCOME FROM THE VICE PRESIDENT FOR STUDENT LIFE

Welcome to Gonzaga! Whether you are an incoming first year student, a transfer, or a returning student, I am glad you are with us. I look forward to your contribution and participation in the “Gonzaga Experience” and offer support to you through your education.
The staff of the Student Life Division has developed this Student Handbook to help acquaint you with the opportunities, policies, and expectations of the University. Since all students are subject to the provisions of this handbook, and are expected to become familiar with its contents, I urge you to read it carefully; use it wisely, and to follow its guidelines.
All of us in the University are genuinely concerned with the welfare, growth and enrichment of the student body. We work together in an attempt to provide you as a student with every opportunity to learn, grow, develop, and reach your full potential as a valued member of the Gonzaga community. On behalf of the Division of Student Life, I congratulate you on your decision to be at Gonzaga. I hope you will give unselfishly of your talents to both enrich and benefit from the opportunities and quality of life so special at Gonzaga.
Sincerely yours,
Sue Weitz, Ph.D.
Vice President for Student Life
MESSAGE FROM THE GSBA PRESIDENT
Welcome to Gonzaga for the 2007-2008 academic year! The year ahead promises to be one filled with activities, service, student involvement, and fun! As your Gonzaga Student Body President, I am extremely excited to be able to help provide all of this and more for everyone, and am eager to share the Gonzaga experience with our new freshman class.
Year after year, our student body strengthens the university and makes Gonzaga the best school in the nation. Our close knit community, academic rigor, athletic success, and dedication to service are only a few of the hundreds of factors that make Gonzaga the place that everyone wants to come and nobody wants to leave.
Every student at Gonzaga is a member of the Gonzaga Student Body Association (GSBA). As members of GSBA, I encourage you all to become a part of the Gonzaga community and get involved in as many ways as possible. This may be through our diverse range of clubs and organizations, activities and programming, CCASL (service learning), student government, residence life, intramurals, and/or many other opportunities that you can grow yourself into. Whatever your interest is, Gonzaga has it for you, and I am ready and willing to help you get there!
Welcome to the 2007-2008 school year!
