Gonzaga University’s Living and Learning Communities For 2008-09 Our theme and interest communities provide students the opportunity to live and interact with others who share their same interests. The living/learning communities offered for 2008-09 are:
Service Learning If you have a passion for helping others, striving for social justice and reaching out to make your community a better place, this is the community for you. By participating in this program, you will have the opportunity to live and learn with other students who share your passion for social justice/service and collaborate with the Center for Community Action and Service Learning (CCASL). If you are majoring in engineering and have a passion for the engineering profession, this community may be for you. In partnership with the College of Engineering, this community offers engineering students the opportunity to explore their interest in engineering through “out-of-the-classroom” activities. Just indicate your preference for this community when you complete your Housing and Residence Life Application/Agreement Outdoor Adventure and Leadership Do you like to experience the outdoors “up close and personal” and have a passion for the responsible stewardship of our natural resources? If so, the Outdoor Adventure and Leadership community may be for you. In partnership with the GU Outdoors program, residents of this close knit community may participate in a variety of outdoor adventures, plan and lead outdoor activities, and share their outdoor skills with others. Some of the adventures include hiking, mountain biking, backpacking, rock climbing, boating, skiing, etc. Benefits and Features

In partnership with the Comprehensive Leadership Program (CLP), this community offers co-curricular leadership opportunities, activities, and experiences to students who are interested in the development of leadership for the common good. Students in this community interact both formally and informally in the pursuit of improving their leadership skills. Benefits and Features

International Community (Availability Very Limited)In this new world where we are beginning to believe we are becoming a global community, the international community theme provides a great opportunity for students to expand their knowledge and understanding of different cultures. In this community, an international student is accommodated with a US citizen in apartment-style living. This arrangement encourages the interaction and exploration of cultures and helps to expand the world view of those participating in this community. Benefits and Features
