Second Harvest Food Bank

Second Harvest Food Bank

Second Harvest Food Bank is the largest non-governmental charitable feeding program in the Inland Northwest, with a passionate dedication to our mission and strong, collaborative ties with community-based organizations throughout the area. The Second Harvest Food Bank of the Inland Northwest is a non-profit organization which alleviated hunger and poverty by:

· Providing food and related commodities and services to people in need;

· Providing a system for the distribution of such commodities;

· Educating the public about the nature of hunger and poverty;

· Recognizing the need for emergency food programs and other non-profit organizations that meet the critical needs of low income families;

· Providing our services with compassion and respect for the dignity of the client.

 Volunteer Opportunities:

· Repackaging bulk foods in to smaller quantities.  A weekly commitment must be able to lift 40 pounds.

· Help repackage bulk food for distribution to area emergency food bank outlets. AM or PM, shifts available on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

· Food donated during local food drives needs to be sorted in a timely manner to be distributed to needy families. Times are flexible and can include some evenings or Saturdays.

· You will be trained to sort damaged food and non-food items which are needed by non-profit agencies to help low-income clients.

· It’s conveniently located just off of Trent Ave. only 4 blocks away.  Every Saturday has a morning and afternoon repacking shift, great for clubs, residence halls, or offices.

· Time Commitment: Flexible. Mornings, afternoons, and weekends are the best.
